When they get to Skull Island all the rocks protruding out of the sea look like faces. That’s forgiven by everything that comes afterward. It’s too long and they throw in a love story between Darrow and Driscoll (Adrien Brody) because it couldn’t just be about the beauty and the beast. Where it goes off track is the journey to Skull Island. I’ve been a fan of giant monster movies since I was a kid so I appreciate this part of the story. Then they take Kong back to New York where he’s not happy to be a captive but is captivated by the beauty of Darrow (Naomi Watts). On Skull Island a film and ship’s crew find not only Kong but a plethora of other monsters such as dinosaurs. The movie tends to stick to the gist of the original. It stuck to the main points of that film and presented a beauty and the beast type tale. King Kong was a remake of the 1933 classic that was one of the first films to introduce giant monsters to the public.
